Submissions are open for Issue #3!

Students can EITHER email their submissions to thetrees@RPMS.org or share a Google document with thetrees@rpms.org.

Don’t forget to include your name, classroom, and grade!

Submissions are open until March 12th, 2026.

We are looking for

  • Fiction (short stories, novel excerpts, flash fiction, etc) 

  • Creative Nonfiction (personal essays, hybrid essays, memoir excerpts, travel writing, opinion pieces, narrative nonfiction) 

  • Poetry (anything from Haiku to prose poems) 

  • Reviews (Seen any good performances lately? Read any great new books? Tell us about it!) 

Submission Details

  • Please include your name, classroom, and grade.

  • Submissions are open from January 1 - March 12th, 2026.

  • Please do not submit more than 3 pieces of writing for consideration.

  • We accept submissions from 3rd grade-8th grade. (1st and 2nd grade submissions will only be considered with classroom teacher endorsement.)

  • All submissions will be read and reviewed by The Trees editors and considered for publication in Issue #3 which will be released on May 28th. 

  • Not all work submitted will be accepted, so please send us your BEST writing! 

  • All submissions must be typed and double spaced. 

  • Do not send any previously published writing.

  • We will send acceptance notices by April 25th, 2026. 

  • If you prefer to submit a paper copy of your work, beginning on January 30th, a submissions box will be available in the library. (Submissions will be collected daily.)
